Diagnostic criteria and main manifestations of sub-health
**1.5//How to determine if we are in a sub-healthy state?**
>
The main manifestations of sub-health include insomnia, excessive dreaming, and difficulty falling asleep in 60% of people in the sub-healthy population; 62% of them frequently experience lower back pain; 8% of them get tired easily after doing physical labor; and 48% of them are irritable or anxious.
>
The current diagnostic criteria for sub-health are mainly divided into subjective diagnostic criteria and objective diagnostic criteria.
>
> Subjective criteria include: (1) the "Clinical Guidelines for Sub-health in Traditional Chinese Medicine" or the questionnaire on sub-health syndromes in Traditional Chinese Medicine published by the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2006.
>
(2) Internationally existing health assessment scales, such as the Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90), the Short Form-36 Health Survey (SF-36), and the Self-Rating Health Questionnaire (SRH).
>
(3) Self-developed sub-health scales or questionnaires, such as SHSQ-25 which includes five subscales of fatigue, cardiovascular system, digestive tract, immune system and mental state; and sub-health measurement scale V1.0 (SHMS V1.0) which includes physiological, psychological and social aspects.
>
Objective diagnosis relies on more professional methods for determining sub-health status, including comprehensive quantitative measurement, health assessment using ultra-high magnification microscopic diagnostic systems (MDI), iris image analysis, and scale methods, etc.
>
Subjective diagnosis is currently the most commonly used method, with the most frequently used method being the diagnostic criteria for sub-health status in the "Clinical Guidelines for Sub-health in Traditional Chinese Medicine".

The above are the diagnostic criteria for sub-health in the United States.
>
The concept of sub-health in my country was proposed in May 1996, but there is still no clear and unified standard in my country. At present, the standard proposed by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is still used. It is considered that sub-health is a third state between health and disease. It is a time period and its clinical manifestations are very complex. At present, the symptoms of sub-health are summarized as "three declines": A. Decreased vitality, lack of energy, lack of interest in things; B. Decreased memory, suddenly unable to remember people and things that we are usually very interested in; C. Difficulty concentrating, making mistakes; D. Decreased self-control; E. Insomnia and dreaming.
>
B. Decreased adaptability manifests as difficulty adapting to hot or cold environments, fear of heat or cold, inability to tolerate hunger or fullness, and weight gain.
>
> C. A weakened immune system makes one more susceptible to illnesses such as colds and diarrhea.
